Algarve - Olhos d'Água
Olhos d’Água Beach
… and the sweet water waterfalls
The famous fresh water springs that flow from the beach, locally called Sweet Water Whales, baptized the village and the beach.
The rocky formations, very cropped, exhibit, caves, arches, and small sheltered coves. The Olhos d'Água beach is very popular due to its urban and tourist character, with a central square with terraces and a small pedestrian promenade by the sea front, flanked by palm trees.
Traditionally a small fishing village, Olhos d'Agua owes its name to the freshwater springs between the rocks at the eastern end of the beach. During low tide it is very easy to find scouts bubbling in the sand and feel the freshness that comes from the depths.
In the last years the locality has grown a lot, but the very beautiful beach surrounded by colorful cliffs in ocher tones maintains its beauty, being a pleasant seaside resort that has excellent infrastructures of support and excellent restaurants on the sea.
